GasRam™ for the SWAT Operator
Penetrate Walls

The GasRam™ is designed so that two law enforcement officers can penetrate a barrier by swinging the GasRam™'s probe into the side of a stucco building or the side of a vehicle, mobile home or motor home. It doesn't take much pressure to penetrate the stucco because of the inertia caused by the swing combined with the weight of the probe. If the end of the probe gets clogged with building material the "Fike" over pressure valve will release the pressure outside the house.

If that occurs you will need top remove the entire ram, clean the probes of debris, replace the "Fike" valve and reinsert the probe. This would be a highly unusual case. No user has reported this happening to us.

When manually inserting the GasRam™ officer safety is paramount. The officers can be exposed to hostile fire depending upon the placement of the ram. They must consider where the optimum place is for deployment, taking into consideration utilities that might be located in the wall along with cover and concealment issues. You should avoid electric lines and natural gas lines. If you are using a long probe you do not want it to extend into a cabinet or a piece of furniture. Both will severely limit the amount of agent you release into the building.

Some agencies have complained that once the GasRam™ has been inserted and left they are never sure whether the grenade they loaded successfully discharged. The walls of the GasRam™ are so thick that it is impossible to hear the releasing agent. Some agencies have not screwed the cap on tight enough so that some of the releasing agent comes out through the treads. This allows them to know that the agent is releasing from the grenade.

Please watch these short movie clips and slide shows by clicking on the title so you will have an idea of how other agencies use the GasRam™.
